Watersport-Assistent (m/f/d) (Intern), (April – Oktober) – Apply now!
In 2023, like every year, we have several internships available in our kite school in Holland.
As an internship authorized VDWS school, your training will be carried out by an experienced VDWS instructor. The training should take place in 2-8 weeks and includes the following content:
- School organization and rental 10 hours
- Safety concept of the station 2 hours
- Customer and sales discussions, service 8 hours
- Basic material knowledge 5 hours
- Material care and repair 5 hours
- Observation at a beginner’s course 10 hours
Your tasks include supporting the kite instructor in planning and conducting kite courses. After a short training period, you will take care of the material issue independently and help out in the station service.
You should be able to work in a team and be good at communicating. The kite school requires an open and friendly demeanor towards guests and kite students. In return, she offers you free board and lodging in the kitecamp and the use of our material pool.
In addition, the basic license for the respective sport must be acquired by the end of the training at the latest. A manual serves to support the training, after successful completion the participant receives the “Member Card Water Sports Assistant” from the VDWS.
The minimum age is 16 years. Registration is carried out by the training school. The training is documented by the school and then submitted to the VDWS office.
The water sports assistant becomes a VDWS member free of charge for two years at the start of the training and is entitled to use all associated advantages. After two years or after completing the instructor course, he will automatically become a full member with an annual fee of 51 euros.
If the instructor course is attended within two years, the water sports assistant receives a 10% discount on the course fee.
If the internship of the instructor training takes place at the same training school, the internship can be reduced by up to 50% (50 instead of 100 hours). If the internship takes place at a foreign school, it can be reduced by 20% (80 instead of 100 hours).
Job or profession?
More is expected from teachers in water sports today than a few years ago. Often schools that only offered one sport have become large stations over time offering surfing, kiting, cat and dinghy sailing. The modular system of the VDWS training system offers the opportunity to acquire an individual professional profile and gradually expand it. It is supplemented by further training in school management and internship support.
Not everyone wants to turn their hobby into a profession. For some it is a job for 2-4 years, e.g. after school or while studying. With an apprenticeship, you can quickly learn the basic knowledge you need to teach yourself. And then the money is right too.
Course focus
- Training of driving skills
- Demonstration ability
- Introduction to teaching and planning
- Organizational forms and practical lessons
- Implementation of a beginner’s course
- Lessons for advanced learners
- Lessons for children, animation
- Job description or job: opportunities and possibilities
- Material science
The courses last 8-10 days. You will then complete your 100-hour internship in a VDWS school and if you have successfully completed you will receive a windsurf, kitesurf, cat or dinghy license. This entitles you to train and test for the basic certificate of the VDWS.
